PRESS: Russia to check if tycoon Kolomoisky owns Evraz, seize stake
MOSCOW, Mar 25 (PRIME) -- Russian prosecutors and the Investigative Committee plan to check whether Ukrainian tycoon Igor Kolomoisky owns shares in U.K.-based steel and mining giant Evraz, which operates mainly in Russia, and will seize them if it finds any, daily Izvestiya reported Wednesday.
The request for the inspection was filed to Prosecutor General Yury Chaika and Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin by State Duma deputies Valery Rashkin and Sergei Obukhov. Rashkin said that if Kolomoisky owns any Evraz’ shares, they must be seized and nationalized, Izvestiya reported.
Previously, Crimea, which joined Russia in March 2014, nationalized all Kolomoisky’s Crimean property for financing the military in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
